CPAA Calendar Competition 2009
The CPAA Calendar last year proved very popular and successful with service users, carers and professionals alike. We feel that the competition offers an opportunity for service user and carer’s creative talent to be displayed and promoted. The CPAA will not hold the copyright for the artworks used for the calendar and all artwork will be returned to its owner who retains the copyright.
Gillian Callaghan’s painting of ‘Summer Storm’ was used last year for the cover of the calendar. It is a highly emotive painting which has been admired across the nation.
Gillian was delighted to win the competition and says that:
‘The honour of having my very first painting selected as the cover of the inaugural national CPAA calendar competition was surely one of the highlights of the year for me. The all round positive charge it gave me lasted some months and sparked huge enthusiasm for a new found hobby which I find truly absorbing.
Choosing to paint ‘Summer Storm’ was inspired by my fascination with water and the drama of the summer sky.
This month I begin a course in drawing and painting having been spurred on to take things to the next level as a result of all the positive feedback I have received.’
The calendar will be available to all named members of the CPAA and to service user and carer groups. The calendars are not for sale and copyright remains with the artist.
